Homemade Wrap / Tortilla / Burrito Bread

10 April 2014 by Jacqueline

Homemade Wrap Bread

Wraps are ideal as party snacks, a full meal, or as just a snack in between meals. We don’t know how it is for you, but we can’t get enough of them. And if it gets boring, we just change the filling we use and voilà: we have a completely new and different snack. Wraps taste extra special if you make the bread for the wraps yourself. To do it, all you need is flour, water and salt. So easy, so tasty.

Recipe:

Shopping List for 6 Homemade Wrap / Tortilla / Burrito Breads

200g all purpose flour
150ml water
1 tsp. salt

Preparation Time: approx. 20 minutes
Resting Time: approx. 15 minutes (in this time, you prepare the filling)

Directions for the Homemade Wrap / Tortilla / Burrito Bread:

Put the flour and salt in a bowl and stir to mix together. Carefully add the water. Now, kneed the mixture with your hands until a smooth dough forms. It should be pliable and a bit sticky.

If the dough is too dry, add a bit more water to it. When it’s ready, wrap the dough in cling wrap and place it in the fridge. While it’s in the fridge, prepare the filling. At the end of the homemade wrap / tortilla / burrito bread recipe you will find a few tasty wrap filling recipes we recommend.

Just before the 15 minutes are up, prepare your counter top to roll out the dough. Lay a piece of baking paper on the counter and cover it well with flour. When the 15 minutes is over, take the dough out of the fridge and separate it into 6 pieces. Don’t worry, it’s enough. You use less dough for each piece of bread than you would think.

Now, form each dough portion into a ball. One at a time, roll them, on the flour covered baking paper, out as thin as you can. Heat a non-stick pan on the stove top and, without using oil or other fats, cook each one for 1 to 2 minutes per side.

Finally, fill the wraps and enjoy.
Have fun!
