With this easy recipe you’ve got buttercream ready to decorate your cakes or tartes – a great alternative to the classic whipped cream.
If you’re going to be adding fondant to a cake, this buttercream is great for spreading on the cake before adding the fondant, giving a nice smooth base for the fondant to sit on.
Recipe:
Shopping List for 1 normal sized cake
2/3 cup softened butter
2 1/3 cup confectioners’ sugar (powdered sugar)
2 tbs. milk
Preparation Time: approx. 5 minutes
Directions for the Buttercream:
In a large bowl, cream the butter. Slowly add the powdered sugar mixing as you add until creamy and smooth. Add and mix in the milk. – Buttercream is finished!
Tip: you can also add a few drops of food coloring to the buttercream to make a nice vibrant color.
